Non-surgical vein removal treatments
Improve the look and symptoms of your Varicose veins
We offer many vein removal treatments for all types of veins. Varicose veins are twisted, dark blue, visibly enlarged veins that protrude above the surface of the skin. Typically they are found on the legs and can be painful and even cause swelling. In the long run, Varicose veins are frequently known to lead to skin discoloration and ulcerations.
Spider veins (also known as Thread veins) are small but colourful veins that also usually appear on the legs or face. They look like a spider web and may appear red, purple, or blue.
Whether they are Spider, Thread or Varicose veins, Rosacea or Campbell de Morgan spots, Changes Clinic has many treatments to help improve the look and prevent further discomfort.
Which is the best treatment for varicose vein?
At Changes Clinic, we have state-of-the-art technology and treatments for Varicose veins. Our Vascular Surgeon and Specialists will help you to choose the therapy that is best for you. They’re always happy to answer any questions you have on what to expect, results and more.
Our non-surgical vein treatments include:
- IPL or Sterex for thread veins from £99. These veins are very small and these treatments are perfect as they cauterise the tiny vessels.
- Foaming or Sclerotherapy for spider veins. These see a solution injected into the vein to cause shrinkage and are reabsorbed by the body. Your consultation with the sclerotherapy consultant is £50, followed by £275 for the therapy.
- EVLA or stripping for Varicose veins. The former is a laser treatment, while the latter is where the vein is cut and pulled out. A consultation with full ultra sound is £350 followed by your chosen treatment. Stripping starts at £1,600 while EVLA is £2,459.
- All options have a very short recovery time and they are suitable for abnormal or comfortable veins on the face, cheeks, chest, legs and elsewhere on the body.

Deciding on varicose vein treatments
Managing and removing visible veins is one of our most popular treatments. Depending on the severity, type of veins on show and whether you need to avoid downtime, will determine the procedure that we will recommend.
Following you consultation and an ultrasound scan, the Doctor may recommend EVLA (Endovenous Laser Ablation) which uses laser treatment to safely remove the affected veins.
For larger veins to stop them getting worse, our Vascular Surgeon may suggest an operation. Vein stripping where the damaged vein is removed completely with several small cuts or an incision. Stripping is performed less often than EVLA, as EVLA is highly effective and less invasive procedure which is suitable for most patients.
Alternatively, they may suggest Foam Sclerotherapy. This procedure uses a number of small injections with an irritant solution using a very fine needle.

When should varicose veins be removed?
If you are feeling discomfort, pain, swelling or itching continuously, it is time to see a consultant. You may have tried self care options: wearing compression stockings, elevating your legs for long periods when sitting or laying, or even upping the exercise. Our Non Surgical Vein Removal treatments or Surgical Stripping will ensure your affected veins are treated properly and alleviate any further discomfort, potential blood clots as well as majorly improve the appearance.
Why we get visible leg veins
Leg veins can start to show as we get older. This can be due to genetics, weight, lifestyle, even prolonged sitting or standing. In Varicose veins and Spider veins, small one-way valves in the veins become weaker. Blood flow can start to go backwards or accumulate in the vein, which causes them to enlarge.

Vein Treatment FAQS
Recovery Time
The downtime on all our treatments for varicose veins is minimal. Following your treatment, which can last up to an hour, you will be able to go home the same day. Driving is not recommended due to using a local anaesthetic during most procedures. You will wear compression stockings (or socks) for up to 2 weeks afterwards to prevent blood clots or DVT.
Return to work
Usually, you will be able to return to work almost immediately as we recommend staying mobile after your procedure. Walking daily will ensure you do not become stiff and will reduce swelling and bruising.
Side Effects
Depending upon which treatment you have may mean different side effects. You will feel bruising as well as initial swelling and redness. This will go away after a few weeks.
After care treatment of varicose veins
Your consultant will talk you through the importance of aftercare, to ensure circulation of blood remains healthy and that your body naturally processes the procedure. At home, you will need to wear compression stockings for long periods but avoid getting them wet. Elevate your treatment area when possible and you are resting.
The anaesthetic will wear off after approximately 24 hours and you will be okay to drive, but it is also advised not to get on a flight for 4 weeks following an operation.
