Earfold is a leading treatment to correct sticky out ears, carried out without the need for surgery. You may need correction of both ears or just one?
An initial consultation with the surgeon carrying out the procedure is used to determine your suitability for the Earfold treatment. Firstly a Prefold clip/s is inserted onto the outside of your ear to pin it back to get an idea of the final result. A number of clips are tried - usually between 1 & 3 per ear. When the correct positioning is found it is noted and photographed. You will receive the photographs to take home to consider your decision. After a minimum of 2 weeks, you can return to receive treatment. This time, you will receive a local anaesthetic during this minor surgical procedure and the nitinol clips will be inserted between the skin & cartilage in the pre-determined position. When complete the incision in your ear will be sutured and covered with a plaster. The procedure is surprisingly quick & effective when carried out by our surgeon with little downtime - you could be back to work the next day. No general anaesthetic required. No bandages. You will see some bruising & swelling. with a recommendation to take painkillers for several days
